Friday 14 November 2025 Children in Need 2025 On Friday, 14th November, Holly Grove School joined thousands of schools across the country to support Children in Need 2025. Pupils and staff embraced the spirit of giving by taking part in a non-uniform day, with lots of bright colours and even a few Pudsey ears spotted around school!

Wednesday 15 October 2025 Burntwood Rotary offer of a Buddy Bench We're absolutely delighted to share that Burntwood Rotary, who have been creating beautiful Friendship Benches for local schools, have chosen Holly Grove to receive one before Christmas. We reached out earlier this year to express our interest and were told funding might not be available until next year... but at their committee meeting last night they voted to make one for us this term!

Friday 3 October 2025 Reception Forest school Bears Cottage Reception class had a wonderful Forest School session today — even though the rain meant we had to adapt our plans! Instead of heading into the forest, we made great use of our outdoor area under the canopy, and with our coats on, we were ready for anything.

Friday 3 October 2025 Year 2 Art and geography animals from around the world This week, our Year 2 pupils combined their art and geography skills to create animals from the seven continents of the world. Using their carefully planned designs, each child chose an animal and brought it to life using a variety of materials — one group even made a turtle using tissue paper and other creative resources!

Their confidence was through the roof! They performed with such enjoyment and style! The audience (the school children and their parents) really enjoyed the concert! Tuesday 15 July 2025 Year 6 Leavers show 2025 What an amazing night! It was full of laugher, singing, dancing, amazing acting, very surprising costumes as well as some tears too. It was a great end for our year 6 children and parents. We were so proud of all of them. We will miss them so much.

Friday 11 July 2025 Year 6 gladiators last session 2025 This was the last session of the Year 6 Reading Gladiators! We have read some brilliant books this year and had some really interesting discussions. We read a variety of books but two of our favourites were "The Way Past Winter" by by Kiran Millward-Hargrave was one we really enjoyed. "Rebound" by Kwame Alexander was also one of our favourites. This was a very different book as it is written completely in verse.

Monday 30 June 2025 Lichfield Can Sing 2025 Our School Choir took part in the first Lichfield Can Sing! We joined other local primary schools from around Lichfield and performed on the stage to a great audience. The choir did a great job and sang beautifully. Thank you to all the parents who came to support us.

Monday 16 June 2025 Year 5/6 Symphony Hall proformance Year 5/6 were part of an incredible event at the Symphony Hall Birmingham. Over 2000 young musicians showcased their talents and our children were part of these amazing performances playing their steel drums and glockenspiels. We were is proud of them. Their passion and hard work shone through.

Friday 6 June 2025 KS2 Art Trip to Compton Verney 2025 This was our first art based trip and we took over 40 children from KS2 with us to the beautiful Compton Verney. We had an amazing time the children took part in drama, art, sculpture, natural art using the grounds as inspiration. What an amazing day!

Friday 6 June 2025 Dickens Week 2025 As part of our Charles Dickens Week, Lichfield Garrick Theatre have been in school doing some workshops with all of our children based on the works of Dickens. All the children from Reception to Year 6 will take part in a workshop to really bring the words of Dickens to life! A huge thank you to the Garrick and all their staff for supporting our week. The children have really enjoyed the experience and we definitely have some budding actors!

Wednesday 4 June 2025 Nursery Forest schools trail making Today in forest schools we looked at making trails using the things we could find in forest schools. We used twigs, stones, leaves and flowers. The children were very inventive and enjoyed the challenge of the task. There was lots of great team work happening as well. Then when we came back inside some of the children transferred their learning and continued to make their own trails with items they could mind inside. Well done Nursery.

Wednesday 4 June 2025 Homunculi Project Year 2 Today we have started our Homunculi project with Mr Smith from Primitas. This will run for the rest of this term. In the sessions we will be exploring our emotions and gaining a better understanding of what our emotions are, how they can affect us and how we can start to deal/cope with them. What a great session! Thank you Mr Smith.

Tuesday 3 June 2025 Reception Yoga Reception class had their first yoga lesson this week! They learnt some of the basic yoga poses and put them together in a little sequence. They especially liked the mediation part of the lesson and some of them nearly fell asleep! Well done Reception!

Monday 2 June 2025 The Book Bus 2025 The Book Bus visited our school this week at the start of our Charles Dickens Week! Throughout the day every class visited the bus and got to look at all the amazing books in it. Then after school they could visit with their parents if they wanted to purchase any books. It was an incredible turn out and over £1000 was spent which meant we were able to buy over £160 of books for school! Thank you so much for supporting the start of our Dickens week!

Wednesday 28 May 2025 Future Aspirations Week! We had our first Future Aspirations Week during the last week of the spring term and what a super week it was! We had so many people come in to speak to the children from a doctor to a scientist to an Army chef to a pilot to a policeman! We had such a range of people it really was amazing! All the children were involved from Reception to Year 6.

Thursday 22 May 2025 DT Bread testing in Year 3/4 We have been tasting different types of breads today, we tasted wraps, bagels, pitta bread, tiger bread, brown bread and naan. We had to describe the taste, texture and the appearance of the different breads in partners on to our tables within our books. We had lots of fun as some of the different types of bread some of us had never tried before.

Wednesday 21 May 2025 Spudman visits Holly Grove! We had a special visitor to Holly Grove today! Spudman! He came to deliver some of his potato growing kits! If you don't know who Spudman is - Where have you been??? He is an internet star who has over 1 million visitors! He is only down the road in Tamworth and does lots for charity! We will update you on our potato growing!!!

Tuesday 20 May 2025 Year 2 Science Growing Plants This afternoon as part of our work on growing plants we looked inside a kidney bean to see the seed coat, food source and the baby plant. The children really enjoyed it and could not believe a whole plant could grow from these small parts!

Friday 16 May 2025 Lichfield District Council Art competition Winners We were very excited to see our children's art competition winners displayed in Lichfield town centre! They are on the boards surrounding the new building of the cinema (the old Debenhams store). You can find them by the side of the Ryman's shop by the steps downing up to the road.

Thursday 15 May 2025 End of SATs Week 2025 Yes!!! Year 6 have just finished their last SAT test and are really happy! We are extremely proud of how hard they have all worked this week, they have definitely all done the best they could possible do. Well done Year 6

Friday 9 May 2025 VE Day 2025 We had a lovely day remembering Victory in Europe day 80 year anniversary today and yesterday! We had a special assembly on Thursday and the children who were members of the scouts, cubs, brownies, rainbows and squirrels all came into school wearing their uniforms with pride! Then on Friday we had a non uniform day were we wore red, white and blue or 40's outfits. We had a special British lunch of fish and chips! In the afternoon we took advantage of the lovely sunny day and had games on the field. We had a real mixture of things and it was lovely to see our older children leading and mentoring the younger ones. What a lovely week it has been.

Thursday 1 May 2025 Reading Suitcases come out of storage! This afternoon we have been able to get our Reading Suitcases out of winter storage! It was brilliant being able to sit in the sun and enjoy some new books! The children loved talking about the books and being able to sit on the field and enjoy a story together! Fingers crossed the weather stays good!

Friday 11 April 2025 Lent Charity - The Max and George Dog Trust Thank you for all the amazing donations to our Lent charity the Max and George Dog Trust! We collected a huge car full of food, blankets, toys, bedding and so much more! The trust were really grateful for all your donations especially as they were moving sites to a new home for the dogs, so a lot of their funds had to go on new kennels and getting the site ready for the dogs. So your donations of food etc really helped them. Well done Holly Grove!

Friday 11 April 2025 Easter parade 2025 Well the spring term ended with our traditional parade around the boundaries of the school! Lots of parents came out to support us! Which was lovely. The older children mentored the younger ones and made sure they were all safe and happy on the walk about the local roads! Lots of lovely hats and bonnets were worn by the children some lovely creative designs. What a lovely way to end our term.

Friday 11 April 2025 Rotary Child for the Spring Term Congratulations and well done to our Rotary child for the Spring term! Seth is a true role model who always tries his very best in all he does! He displays all of our Torch values and is also a very kind and caring child. He gives up his own time to volunteer being a sports ambassador and has represented the school in numerous sporting events. Well deserved Seth! We are all very proud of you.

Thursday 10 April 2025 Year 4 Sports Event at EDA Year 4 had a super day trying our new sports with some of the other Primitas Primary Academies at EDA today. We even tried out Cornball and Tchoukball. It was lovely to see some of our former pupils who are now at EDA being Sports Leaders and leading the events. Fantastic day thank you EDA.

Thursday 10 April 2025 KS1 Easter Chick Hunt What a super afternoon we had on our Easter Chick Hunt! Mrs Fellows made 77 knitted chicks and we had to find them!!! There was one for every child in KS1 so there was lots of fun and lots of laughter looking all over the school field, forest schools and the playgrounds for the hidden chicks! What a lovely afternoon we had.

Wednesday 9 April 2025 Year 1/2 Easter Craft morning 2025 An Eggcelent parent and child Easter craft with year 1/2 this morning! The children wanted to start off with a Brain break of Danny Go and so all the parents had to join in too!!! There was lots of dancing and laughter!! They wanted the parents to dance so they could "concentrate" on the lesson! Fabulous dancing and crafting! Thank you to everyone who came today! The children and adults all really enjoyed themselves!

Tuesday 8 April 2025 Year 2 Maths Measuring Lesson In year 2 maths today we have been deciding what to use to measure different objects around school so we can compare their lengths from shortest to longest. We found that the metre stick was very good for measuring tall and long objects and the ruler was good for shorter objects. Great maths work year 2!

Tuesday 8 April 2025 Primitas Book basket donations This morning the Year 3/4 competition winners went to Burntwood Library. Here they met the winners from the other Primates Primary schools. Together we had a tour of the library, completed a book treasure hunt and had a delicious afternoon style tea provided for by the Friends of Burntwood Library. They also met the representatives from Malachi, Spark and Pathways. The children gifted a basket of books to each group to show our thanks for their support in our community. Hopefully the children in their groups will like the books we have picked. Well done to all the children involved.

Friday 4 April 2025 Year 2 Art Yayoi Kusama Sculptures We had an amazing time creating our own Yayoi Kusama inspired flower sculptures. Lots of messy hands but well worth it! The flower sculptures are beautiful. We are now ready to paint them when they are dried out.

Tuesday 1 April 2025 Year 6 trip to London - visit to Parliament What an amazing visit we had! We went on the fast train to Euston and then had the fun of rush hour on the tube! Off we went to Parliament to be met by our MP Dave Robinson! He gave us a great tour of the House of Commons and answered loads of questions! Thank you Dave.

Friday 28 March 2025 Special Delivery from the Coop! We had a special delivery this afternoon from the Coop! Lots of squishy fruit toys! Thank you so much to James from the Coop for helping us to promote healthy eating to the children! You will see lots of them hanging from the ceiling near the school kitchen as well as in lots of the book corners around school! We are also looking forward to the food and nutrition workshops that James is running for us in the summer term!

Wednesday 26 March 2025 Holly Berries Talent Show 2025 We hosted our very first Talent show last night and what a super show it was! Wow are children are really talented! We had beautiful singing, dancing, a puppet shark, musical instruments, magic tricks and comedians! Amazing fun was had by all the children as well as the staff!

Friday 21 March 2025 Outdoor Learning in Year 1/2 We have been enjoying the 1/2 outdoor learning area! The children have been role-playing as construction workers and mechanics. They have had loads of fun. Lots of problem solving and working together to get a solution. They were even pretending they were at the beach and sunbathing! While a few even had a go at some quiet, peaceful gardening.

Thursday 20 March 2025 Year 5/6 painted stones In PSHE we painted stones thinking about nice things and nice feelings. The stones when finished will go into the nursery outdoor forest area to brighten up the texture path. Also hoping our "nice" thoughts will also go with them.

Thursday 20 March 2025 Rail Safety Assembly Network Rail put on a very interesting online life assembly for our younger children today on how to be safe on a train and around train tracks. The children in Reception and KS1 all came together to watch it together. Afterwards the teachers answered questions from the children about the messages they had been given.

Wednesday 19 March 2025 National Rail Workshop for KS2 children This morning we had our Network Rail assembly workshop teaching the children all about Railway safety. We learnt about the signs to look out for and lots of great advice on how to keep safe around railway tracks.

Tuesday 18 March 2025 Year 1/2 trip to CBSO Birmingham We arrived at the Orchestra centre to see the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra full of excitement! The concert was called "A journey to the Moon!" and we all had to be musical astronauts in the concert - training for the journey! We learnt all about the different instruments and sections of the orchestra and put movements and rhythms to the music. It was wonderful

Friday 14 March 2025 Year 1 Art Yayoi Kusama This morning in art we recreated an art installation by the artist Yayoi Kusama called The Obliteration Room. It was created by adding millions of sticky dots to white items in an all white room. We think our bowls and plates are amazing!!!

Friday 14 March 2025 Science Forces lesson Year 5/6 We have started our forces topic in science today and had lots of fun "experiencing" forces by dropping different sized objects into flour and then measuring the depth and diameter of the craters they made. We did also make a bit of a mess and had to get the hoover out!

Tuesday 11 March 2025 NSPCC Visit to Year 2 This afternoon we had some special visitors to Year 2 an amazing team from the NSPCC as part of their "Speak out and Stay Safe" Programme. We had a workshop and then we completed an activity booklet. We also got some special stickers to take home. We are going to do a bit more work in our workbooks tomorrow and then the children will be bringing these home to share with their families. Super listening skills today, great Torch Values of Respect. Well done children.

Tuesday 11 March 2025 Reception The Farm Topic We have been thinking about "The Farm". We have had to create our own farms in the school world area, as well as using our cutting skills. We have also been enjoying the role play area - where "The Vets" is! We have been caring for the animals and trying to make them feel better.

Tuesday 11 March 2025 Nursery Woodwork lesson We have been using a new tool in our woodwork lesson today! We have been using a screwdriver! We had to use lots of our fine motor skills to twist the screw into the wood with the screwdriver. We found this quite tricky, as we had to hold the wood to stop it turning around with the screwdriver! Some great problem solving in action!

Monday 10 March 2025 Year 2 British Science week 2025 This afternoon as part of British Science Week, we have been investigating height. We talked about the different factors that might affect how tall we are. Then we measured each other using blocks and worked out our class average height. Finally, we drew that height out so we can compare it with the rest of the school in assembly! Great Torch value of Cooperation in action today!

Thursday 6 March 2025 World Book Day 2025 We had a super WBD 2025! We have been hearing stories all week read by different adults from around the school. We also had our very first book swop! Which the children loved as they all got to take a new book home with them! We also gave out the WBD books which Mrs Willis collected from the shops! Today we had a lovely dress up day, where the children came in as their favourite book characters or in their PJ's for bedtime reading! We had prizes for the best outfits throughout school and there was a competition for decorating a stone as a book character/book theme. What a great week we have had!

Tuesday 4 March 2025 Year 5/6 Gymnastics Team competition Winners! Well done to our Gymnastics team for their amazing routines at the recent Gymnastics competition! Friday 28 February 2025 Young Voices Concert 2025 Our choir went to the Young Voices Concert at the Genting Arena and took part with loads of other schools in the Young voices concert. It was an amazing night and we had a super time. We sang and danced, enjoying seeing our parents watching us!

Tuesday 25 February 2025 Year 3/4 Science -Digestive process Today we have been demonstrating the human digestive system. We used bread in a bowl (the mouth) using scissors (the incisors), then we added water (saliva) to the bowl and used a fork to grind the bread down (the molars). The food was then poured into a food bag (the stomach) and mixed with orange juice (acid). We squeezed the bag to mimic the stomach muscles churning the food with the stomach acid. The food was put into tights (entered the small intestine) when the liquid was removed from the chyme to leave behind the faeces.

Friday 14 February 2025 Year 3/4 DT Pencil Cases Year 3/4 have worked really hard on their designs for their own pencil cases in their DT topic. They had to really think about what they need to include and how to make it. They had to check their design and then evaluate how well they had followed their design. Friday 14 February 2025 Watercolour Art Year 5/6 were working very hard on their silhouette cityscapes using watercolours. They learnt about how to mix the colours, how to not use too much paint or water. They experimented with their colours and blending.

Thursday 13 February 2025 Year 2 Kite Making Let's go make our Kites! What a fantastic DT lesson we had today! We used our designs and materials list: Plastic, dowel for the frame, tissue paper and cellophane for the decoration and crepe paper for the tail. We checked our final kites against our designs and were very proud of how they turned out! Once they are dry we can test them!

Thursday 13 February 2025 Year 1/2 Indoor PE In Year 1/2 we have been practising travelling with a piece of equipment. The children did really well considering this was their first lesson but the last lesson of the sequence. They showed lots of Torch Values including Cooperation and Tolerance. Well done

Wednesday 12 February 2025 Reception Bird feeders Over the last few weeks the Reception children have been very busy in Forest schools making their very own bird feeders. They have used lots of different things in the forest school area to help them. We have talked about why we need to help the birds at this time of year. So the children were very excited to think they are helping the birds. We also made some obstacle course using the skills we have learnt. Great use of Torch Values today! Well done everyone!

Tuesday 11 February 2025 Year 5/6 Partner Yoga We have ended this half term's yoga with paired yoga poses! We learnt the boat, the roof and even tried the lizard on the rock! Which is definitely harder than it looks! We also did some mediation which we really enjoyed. We ended our session today with "Happy baby" are big favourite! Why should babies have all the fun!

Monday 10 February 2025 Year 3/4 Trip to Symphony Hall 2025 Year 3/4 went to Birmingham to see the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra play! They were amazing! We heard tunes from Harry Potter, the theme from Star Wars! We even went around the world and heard pieces of music from all over the world including the Can Can from France! A brilliant day!

Friday 7 February 2025 Winners of Lichfield DC Art Competition Well done to our wonderful Holly Grove winners of the Lichfield District Council Art Competition! They had to design a poster of what they love about Lichfield district! We are so pleased that we have so many winners from our school. The children's art will be produced on to boarding to be put in the city centre around the building works that are taking place! Friday 7 February 2025 Standon Bowers Year 6 2025 What a great week Year 6 had at Standon Bowers! They were involved in so many activities - which they all had a go at. They all worked hard in their squads and showed their torch values of cooperation, respect and tolerance! Thursday 6 February 2025 KS1 trip to London Natural History Museum Year 1 & 2 visited London and went to the Natural History Museum! It was brilliant! We saw so many dinosaurs! We even saw a moving one!!! We loved looking at all the different bones and realising how big they would have been, We took part in a workshop where we had to put the bones in the right places. It was a long day but we loved it! Members of the public came up to the teachers and told them how well behaved we were! They were really proud of us x

Thursday 6 February 2025 Year 3/4 Binary Code Lesson In year 3/4 we have been writing our names in Binary Code! We have learnt that 8 bits make a byte and that the CPU in a computer only processes "bits" in the form of 1's and 0's. We have great fun!

Wednesday 5 February 2025 Forest school Year 5 and Nursery joint session Year 5 joined Nursery for a joint forest school session while Year 6 were at Standon Bowers. We are very proud of the Year 5 children and how they worked with the nursery children. They each took on responsibility for a nursery child and took the child under their wing! They bug hunted, making dens and making obstacle courses! The Year 5 children taught the nursery children lots of new skills. They all showed their Torch Values of Tolerance, Ownership, Respect, Cooperation and of course Happiness. One of the nursery children said to the teacher when they went back into the classroom " What a beautiful morning we have had" XXXX

Tuesday 4 February 2025 Year 1/2 Music with Mr Dean In our music lesson today with Mr Dean we learnt all about the saxophone. We learnt that it's made of metal and you play it by blowing it and we listened carefully to the high and the low notes it can make! We will look out for it when we go to see the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra later in the term.

This is the next level up from when they did bikeability in Year 4. Wednesday 15 January 2025 Year 5/6 Yoga Year 5/6 have started their yoga sessions this half term! They have really picked up the yoga poses and have been putting them into a yoga flow - where one pose flows into the next. We have also been learning about breathing and how to control our breath. We especially liked the Lion Breath and the Elephant Breath. Looking forward to moving into some partner yoga before the end of our half term.

Monday 13 January 2025 Year 5/6 Forest Schools There might have been frost on the ground and freezing temps across the country but we are all wrapped up warm outside doing forest schools! We even had hot chocolate around the campfire with Mrs Spencer! We were using our skills to whittle and to remember how to hold the tools correctly. We also had time to explore our forest school area and enjoy learning outside. We showed lots of our school Torch Values including Tolerance, ownership, cooperation and always happiness!

Friday 10 January 2025 Year 1/2 Forest Schools It didn't matter that it was cold, we were all wrapped up and off we went to Forest schools! We had a great time exploring and we even had a story around the campfire! We played on the swing and in the mud too!!! Sorry moms..... We used all of our Torch Values - Tolerance - turn taking, Ownership - looking after the forest school, Respect - by listening to what Mrs Spencer told us to do, Cooperation - working together and of course Happiness! That's an easy one we had lots of fun, lots of laughter and smiles!

Wednesday 8 January 2025 Year 1 Music lessons with Mr Dean This term Mr Dean is working with Year 1! They have been learning all about how to use their beaters properly "like a magic wand" and they learnt how to play their first piece "My Dog has Fleas!" Thursday 19 December 2024 Santa Panto in School We had a brilliant day " Oh yes we did!" All the children had great fun watching the Santa Panto! There was lots of singing, dancing, jokes and even a water pistol!!! We had 3 shows so the children had enough room and that the show could be aimed at the children. Nursery and Reception children were first, followed by KS1 and then KS2 after lunch.

Thursday 19 December 2024 Animal Rescuers Advent Charity Collection We had a great response for our Advent charity collection for the Animal Rescuers of Lichfield, they support lots of small local animal charities. We collected animal food, bedding, toys and lots of towels and blankets.

Wednesday 18 December 2024 KS2 Christmas Carol concert 2024 Well done to all the KS2 children at their carol concerts today. They wowed us all with their beautiful singing, lovely clear reading and enthusiastic music making on their steel drums. Thank you to St John's Church and Matt Wallace the Vicar for hosting us all again this year and helping us to share some Christmas joy. Merry Christmas everyone!

Tuesday 17 December 2024 Elfridges We had a great time today with our Secret Santa shop "Elfridges" being open for all the children to get presents for their loved ones! We also had the grotto ready for Santa and the Elves delivered a personalised Christmas decoration for each child in school.

Tuesday 17 December 2024 Santa school visits We had a very special visitor in school today! SANTA! The children were very, very excited! When he walked through the hall at lunchtime to say there was uproar would be putting it mildly! Santa told all the children that he knew they were on the good list and not to worry if they had done something unkind or naughty, that if they did something kind then it makes all the difference. The children all listened and told Santa they would leave out cookies for him and carrots for the reindeers. They all had a great time! Thank you Santa and see you again next year!!

The children had to draw a picture celebrating Lichfield district. Wednesday 11 December 2024 Autumn Music concert Our Autumn Music concert with Mr Dean our music specialist who has been working with Mrs Barnes (Year 2 ) and Mrs Surplice's (Year 5/6) classes this term. The Year 5/6 were on the steel drums and the Year 2 were playing the glockenspiels. Their playing and singing was amazing! The last song had the staff in tears xx We are very proud of how well they performed. Well done!

Friday 6 December 2024 Year 2 children go to EDA Sports event! Our Year 2 children had a brilliant time trying out Boca and archery today! They were invited by EDA to come along to take part in a joint sports event with the other Primitas Primary Academies. The children had lots of help and support from the Sports Leaders at EDA it was lovely to see them working together so well. Thank you to EDA for hosting and putting on such a super event! Monday 2 December 2024 Choir sings at The Spires Care Home Our Choir went to sing at The Spires Care Home in Lichfield to the residents for Christmas. The children had a lovely time and not only sang beautiful but also afterwards had a chat with the older people. It was a lovely morning.

Thursday 28 November 2024 EYFS Balance Bikes Reception and the Nursery classes have been having lessons on how to ride a balance bike. Our Sports coach is coming in every week and working with the children in the hall or on the playground. They are all amazing and have really taken to the bikes like "ducks to water!" Watch out for them in the Tour de France!!!

Thursday 28 November 2024 Reception Diwali Reception classes have had a great time learning all about Diwali the festival of light. They even made their own Diya lamps. Diya Lamps are oil lamps lit during the festival of Diwali to symbolize prosperity in the new year. They are small pots made from clay and could be described as 'thumb pots' as they are made by pressing the thumb into a ball of clay and shaping it. Monday 25 November 2024 Reception visit from school Nurse We had a visit from the school nurses to our Reception classes. They talked to us about how to look after our teeth. We practised using a tooth brush and even cleaned some huge teeth! We also looked at different foods and talked about what foods were good for our teeth and which ones had sugar in, which can be bad for our teeth. We had lots of fun learning and asked lots of questions.

Tuesday 19 November 2024 Snow!!! We had very excited children today! They woke to a blanket of snow! Luckily we were able still get to school and had no real issues. The teachers took full advantage of the weather at break time!

Thursday 14 November 2024 Egyptian Workshop Year 3/4 We had a super day with our Egyptian workshop! We learnt how to write like an Ancient Egyptian scribe, we built an Egyptian city. We were given 4000 coins and had to spend it to build their own city and earn points. The winning team were the city of "Cairo" who got 110 points and had 100 coins left over! We also looked at Ancient Egyptian artefacts and were mini historians. It was a great day!

Wednesday 23 October 2024 Halloween Disco Our first discos of the year! What amazing costumes! Lots of fun had by staff and the children!

Monday 21 October 2024 Year 4 Chasewater Residential Our very first over night residential with Year 4 was at Chasewater. We had an amazing time! The children were active from the moment they arrived doing activities like group games, practicing our Torch value of cooperation and tolerance!! Then on the climbing wall were we saw a lot of happiness! Bouldering - climbing on the smaller wall which was great fun! Archery were we saw a lot of respect for one another as well as the equipment! Fire lighting and den building were once again our cooperation skills came into play. On the evening we had campfire songs around a big real fire! The children were really well behaved and the staff at the centre were really impressed with them. We will definitely returning!

Friday 19 July 2024 Summerfest - last day of school July 2024! On the last day of term we had our own Holly Grove festival on the field! We had games, music, dancing, faceprinting and ice creams!!!

Friday 19 July 2024 What a Star! A big well done to S who had her lovely long hair cut off and donated it to a children's charity for sick children who have lost their hair. What a very kind gesture. We all thought she looked lovely with her new hair cut!

Thursday 4 July 2024 Skate boarding Day! As part of our build up to the Olympics we had a special coach in to teach all the children how to skate board! All the children from Reception to Year 6 had a go! We had some great balanced children! Lots of tricks being tried too! Great fun for everyone!

Tuesday 2 July 2024 Summer Reading Challenge Assembly We were visited today by Lichfield/Burntwood Library to talk to us about the importance of reading and continuing to do so over the summer holidays when we aren't in school. Something the library does over the summer is have a competition which all the children can enter! There is even a prize for the best school! Details coming home via class dojo tonight.

Monday 3 June 2024 Choir Performance at Prince of Wales Theatre The school choir took part " Cannock can Sing" at the Prince of Wales Theatre. They were amazing and were the final school of the evening and closed the show! An amazing performance that ended with getting all the parents up singing and dancing with them to "Footloose". Thank you to all the families who came to support the children! Your cheers were amazing and really encouraged the children.

Monday 8 April 2024 Easter Parade 2024 We had an amazing last day Easter Parade around the streets surrounding Holly Grove Primary Academy! The older children took on the responsibility of looking after the younger children and held their hands as we waved our flags and showed off the hats/bonnets they had made. What a lovely way to end the term.

Sunday 8 October 2023 Target Run - Sports Burntwood Leisure Centre called "Target Run". The children loved working together as a team hitting various targets using Nerf darts and archery arrows. Great fun was had by all. Well Done to all the children who were a credit to Holly Grove.
