Year 2 Get Creative with Hot and Cold Colours!

In art this week, Year 2 have been exploring the world of colour — learning all about hot and cold colours, also known as warm and cool colours. The children discovered how different colours can create different moods and feelings, and how artists use them to bring their work to life.

Through colour mixing, they experimented with making shades lighter or darker, depending on which colours they combined. There was lots of excitement as they watched new shades appear on their palettes — and learned that the final colour is called a shade.

Once they had mastered their mixing skills, the children used their chosen colours to paint expressive backgrounds for the sculptures they’ll be creating in the coming weeks. Their focus, creativity, and enthusiasm were fantastic!
