Year 6 Become Sports Leaders with Progressive Sports Training

We’re thrilled to announce that our Year 6 pupils have successfully completed their Sports Leader training, delivered by expert coaches from Progressive Sports. The training took place on our playgrounds during lunchtimes and break times, and the children showed fantastic enthusiasm, focus, and teamwork throughout.

During the sessions, the children learned:

• How to organise and lead games,
• Ways to include and support all children,
• How to manage equipment and work with groups,
• And even how to referee matches—which they quickly discovered is not as easy as it looks!

Their commitment and energy were outstanding, and Mr Shakesheave was incredibly proud of how well they listened, participated, and took on leadership roles. Each child received a certificate to celebrate their achievement and mark their readiness to lead fun, inclusive activities on the playground.

This initiative not only supports physical activity and play, but also helps develop:

• Confidence and leadership skills,
• Responsibility and communication,
• And a stronger sense of community and teamwork across the school.
