Year 1 Geography Exploring the word sorting animals
Year 1 Explore the World with Animal Sorting!
This week in geography, Year 1 became world explorers as they worked together to sort animals based on where they live — hot, cold, or somewhere in-between! Using a large world map and their growing knowledge of climates, the children placed animals in the correct regions, guided by the position of the Equator.
They learned that places closer to the Equator are hotter, while those further away are colder, and used this understanding to decide where animals like polar bears, camels, and penguins might live. The children showed fantastic teamwork, discussing their ideas and making thoughtful decisions as they sorted.
Great teamwork, Year 1! You showed brilliant thinking and collaboration — we’re so proud of your learning journey around the world!
