Friday 17 October 2025 Year 6 Become Sports Leaders with Progressive Sports Training We're thrilled to announce that our Year 6 pupils have successfully completed their Sports Leader training, delivered by expert coaches from Progressive Sports. The training took place on our playgrounds during lunchtimes and break times, and the children showed fantastic enthusiasm, focus, and teamwork throughout.

Wednesday 15 October 2025 Year 3 & 4 Reading Buddies We recently held a lovely reading event where our Year 3 and Year 4 pupils became reading buddies for the younger children in Year 1 and Year 2. The older children read a wonderful selection of stories to their younger peers, creating a calm and joyful atmosphere filled with imagination and connection.

Wednesday 15 October 2025 Burntwood Rotary offer of a Buddy Bench We're absolutely delighted to share that Burntwood Rotary, who have been creating beautiful Friendship Benches for local schools, have chosen Holly Grove to receive one before Christmas. We reached out earlier this year to express our interest and were told funding might not be available until next year... but at their committee meeting last night they voted to make one for us this term!

Tuesday 14 October 2025 Year 3 Forest School Adventure at Birches Valley Year 3 had a fantastic day out at Birches Valley, where they took part in a wide range of exciting Forest School activities. The children enjoyed den building, bug hunting, and playing lots of Forest School games that encouraged teamwork, creativity, and exploration.

Mrs Lichfield our school cook has been at Holly Grove for 25 years and Mrs Andrews one of our teaching team has been at Holly Grove for 20 years.

Friday 3 October 2025 Reception Forest school Bears Cottage Reception class had a wonderful Forest School session today — even though the rain meant we had to adapt our plans! Instead of heading into the forest, we made great use of our outdoor area under the canopy, and with our coats on, we were ready for anything.

Wrapped up in our puddle suits and coats, the children were ready for adventure.

Friday 3 October 2025 Year 2 Art and geography animals from around the world This week, our Year 2 pupils combined their art and geography skills to create animals from the seven continents of the world. Using their carefully planned designs, each child chose an animal and brought it to life using a variety of materials — one group even made a turtle using tissue paper and other creative resources!

Building on their detailed drawings, pupils have now taken their creativity a step further by painting these majestic vessels using fine paint brushes.

Thursday 2 October 2025 Year 1 Maths One more one Less This week in Maths, our Year 1 pupils enjoyed a fun and interactive lesson focused on the concept of one more and one less. Using dice and counters, the children played a partner game where they took turns rolling the dice, creating numbers, and then identifying one more or one less.
