This half term, our Nursery children have been working incredibly hard learning how to use balance bikes—and what a journey it’s been! To celebrate their progress, we ended the term with a sponsored balance bike event that was full of fun and excitement.

The children showed off their amazing skills by navigating a range of obstacles in the hall before finishing with a thrilling race. Everyone gave it their best effort, and to mark the achievement, each child received a medal, a certificate, and a yummy treat at snack time.

One excited pupil said:
“I like the race—zoom zoom zoom!”

But balance bikes aren’t just about fun—they play an important role in developing key skills. Children learn coordination, balance, and confidence, which are essential foundations for riding a pedal bike later on. They also build gross motor skills and spatial awareness, all while enjoying physical activity in a safe and supportive environment.

We are so proud of our Nursery children for their determination and enthusiasm. A huge thank you to everyone who supported the event—it was a fantastic way to end the term!
