This week, our imaginations have been soaring as part of our World Book Week celebrations. The whole school has been working from the same exciting text: An Atlas of Imaginary Places. In Early Years, the children were especially fascinated by the magical jungle page, where every sneeze makes the animals change their patterns! This sparked endless curiosity and laughter throughout the classroom.

To bring the story to life, our continuous provision transformed into a jungle adventure. The children explored a jelly swamp filled with crocodiles, diving into sensory play and rich descriptive language. Over in our role‑play vets, we welcomed a variety of poorly jungle animals who needed careful mending — encouraging empathy, teamwork, and problem‑solving.

Outside, the children became real jungle explorers, taking on the important mission of preparing food for the zoo animals. This imaginative play was full of creativity, communication, and plenty of muddy fun!

We also challenged our fine motor skills by creating split‑pin jungle animals, carefully assembling moving legs, arms, and tails. The children showed fantastic perseverance and pride in their creations.

It has been a wonderful week of storytelling, adventure, and hands‑on learning. We can’t wait to see where our imaginations take us next!
